Every year at the Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors of CORVA votes for worthy recipients for the CORVA Annual Awards, with the exception of the Past Presidents' Award, voted solely by the past presidents of CORVA. Annual AwardsGeorge Thomas Memorial Trophy – Off-Roader of the Year Misty Sanders This award is presented to an individual whose contributions to the betterment of off-roading during the preceding year are worthy of special recognition. The recipient may be any individual—regardless of CORVA membership—who has provided significant support, leadership, or impact within the off-road community. Misty Sanders has shown exceptional dedication to CORVA and the off-road community. She played a key role in securing CORVA’s 501(c)(3) status and in the formation of the CORVA Foundation—work that will shape the organization’s future for years to come. Whether behind the scenes or on the front lines, she wears many hats and does it all with excellence. Her leadership, passion, and commitment to protecting public land access make her a vital part of CORVA. Misty is truly deserving of this year’s Off-Roader of the Year award. Looney Duners Trophy to Charity Krawler Krew This club award is given to a CORVA-affiliated club that donates the greatest amount of time and effort to charitable causes. Consideration is based on service and volunteerism, with monetary contributions not being a determining factor. Krawler Krew continues to lead by example when it comes to giving back. Their support reaches beyond the off-road community, working with veterans, the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House, and local homeless shelters. Through their time, effort, and heart, they make a real difference in the lives of others. Their commitment to service embodies the true spirit of this award. Krawler Krew is a deserving recipient of this year’s Charity Award. Northern Club of the Year Clovis Independent Next, we recognize excellence in club leadership and stewardship in the Northern region. These awards recognize CORVA-affiliated clubs that demonstrate outstanding leadership, involvement, and positive impact within their region. Consideration is given to club activities, events, stewardship efforts, and overall contributions to the off-road community. Clovis Independent has set the standard for dedication and stewardship in the Northern region. Their strong involvement in the Adopt-A-Trail program in the Sierra National Forest shows their commitment to protecting the trails we all enjoy. This year, they donated $10,000 to CORVA from their Moonlight Madness benefit event—proof of their continued support and impact. Their leadership and hands-on efforts make them truly deserving of Northern Club of the Year. Central Club of the Year Krawler Krew Our next award highlights a club with an outstanding impact in Central California. These awards recognize CORVA-affiliated clubs that demonstrate outstanding leadership, involvement, and positive impact within their region. Consideration is given to club activities, events, stewardship efforts, and overall contributions to the off-road community. Krawler Krew has raised the bar for what an OHV club can accomplish. As CORVA’s largest club with over 220 members, their impact is undeniable. They host two major benefit events—Big Bear Forest Fest and Slash X Bash—with Slash X Bash alone generating over $30,000 for CORVA in the past two years. Their passion, organization, and commitment to giving back make them a clear choice for Central Club of the Year. Southern Club of the Year Terra De Sol Next, we recognize a club whose legacy and leadership have made a lasting impact in Southern California. These awards recognize CORVA-affiliated clubs that demonstrate outstanding leadership, involvement, and positive impact within their region. Consideration is given to club activities, events, stewardship efforts, and overall contributions to the off-road community. Terra De Sol has built a legacy of leadership and community within the Southern region through decades of dedication to the off-road world. As hosts of Desert Safari—Southern California’s largest and longest-running off-road event for over 50 years—they continue to bring the community together while promoting responsible recreation. Their ongoing advocacy for public land access and support of numerous land use organizations reflect their deep commitment to the future of OHV recreation. Terra De Sol is truly deserving of Southern Club of the Year. Los Aventureros State Conservation Award Friends of Hungry Valley (FOHV) Our next award honors outstanding efforts in conservation and stewardship. This award honors individuals or organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to conservation, land stewardship, and responsible recreation. Recipients are recognized for efforts that help preserve public lands and promote sustainable access for future generations. Friends of Hungry Valley has shown outstanding dedication to conservation, stewardship, and community impact within the OHV world. Following the recent fire, they organized a massive volunteer cleanup effort that brought together over 400 people to plant trees, repaint facilities, and rebuild fencing—restoring the area for future use. They continue to push forward with projects like drilling a well to reopen the motocross track and are working alongside District 37 to bring the Grand Prix back annually. Through partnerships with Los Padres National Forest, and collaboration with American Off Road and MetalCloak to support education and safety initiatives, FOHV is making a lasting impact on both the land and the community. Their commitment to restoration, access, and education makes them truly deserving of this conservation award. American Buggy Association Edward H. Waldheim Political Activism Award Ted Cabral Our final award of the day recognizes excellence in political advocacy. This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in political advocacy for the OHV community. The recipient actively works with agencies, policymakers, and stakeholders to protect access to public lands and influence land use decisions. Ted Cabral has been a driving force in political advocacy for the OHV community. His work on efforts like the Rubicon Trail realignment, along with ongoing collaboration with land managers and agencies, has helped protect access across California. His knowledge, leadership, and commitment continue to strengthen CORVA’s voice where it matters most.
